About the role:

This Manufacturing Engineer I position is project focused and is responsible for completing validation projects that involve launching new products, improving components capacity and quality, generating material and design VIP, and approving new resins and other material for use in production.  The primary process this position will focus on is thermoplastic injection molding, but often involve secondary processes such as pad printing, inspection methods, and packaging. This position will also support strategies and the execution of continuous improvement projects that improve the manufacturability of medical devices to reduce the need for labor, inspections, and materials. This individual will be required to routinely partner with cross-functional and cross-site teams to validate and implement manufacturing processes within the business unit.

 

This role requires an onsite workmode from our Spencer, IN office. Relocation assistance is not available for this position and Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment VISA for this position at this time. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Equipment Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing on validation projects to ensure project success.
  • Owning, managing and communicating project timelines to complete projects on time that deliver or exceed the business, quality, capacity and cost goals for each project.
  • Designs and coordinates applicable engineering tests and experiments.
  • Analyzing, summarizing, and drawing conclusions from metrology test results.
  • Designing and preparing engineering reports and communicating results to the technical and leadership audiences.
  • Coordinating, managing, and documenting project goals, timelines, and progress.
  • In all actions, demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of manufacturing, process or related engineering experience, experience with injection molding preferred, or applicable internship experience
  • Ability to learn how to qualify injection molding equipment
  • Strong bias for action and ability to effectively prioritize work and deliver results in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment are critical
  • Ability to learn manufacturing problem solving and process improvement tools such as DMAIC and production flow tools such as LEAN manufacturing

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics Engineering
  • Internship or other applicable experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Experience with plastics processing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to develop and present ideas via visual communication methods  
  • Experience with troubleshooting, analysis, and repair of equipment  
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
