About the role:

The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining analytics, reports, and data modeling to support the Spencer Materials department.

 

This role will link existing tools and data sources across programs and Materials functions to create a consistent data analytics development and deployment strategy within Spencer Materials. The role requires collaboration with local, regional, and global business partners as well as Boston Scientific IT teams to build, optimize, and monitor the foundational data assets in a dynamically changing environment to support business initiatives through descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Interacts with internal customers and across multiple functions to determine customer data or report requirements and translates them into reports for analysis.
  • Collects and tracks data and provides analysis through ongoing reporting, ad hoc analysis and partnership to share insights and ensure understanding within the business.
  • Uses data to depict or highlight key organization trends.  Collaborates with businesses to identify insights, trends and potential opportunities, interventions, and solutions to demonstrate business value.
  • Develops and maintains analytical tools used by the business. Identifies and recommends opportunities to optimize system and reporting. May maintain relationships with data and software vendors.
  • Assists with the development and communication of the data analytics strategy and operating plan.
  • Design automated reporting to support efficient standard work by stakeholder partners.
  • Partner with data architecture team to establish data pipelines to enable transition off excel/manual based processes and align with enterprise data strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with our business partners at varying levels to identify current pain points, troubleshoot, and design analytical solutions considering current business processes, systems, and data by enabling consumption through PowerBI. 
  • Lead technical support for key dashboards & reports including data infrastructure. 
  • Deliver excellent customer support through core team involvement in projects requiring system data and technical understanding. 
  • Monitor information systems for opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy and make recommendations for implementation of new systems or necessary upgrades that will best meet customer and company requirements. 
  • Drive processes to ensure data integrity and consistency across SAP, Rapid Response, MES, HANA, and other supporting systems. 
  • Ensure that appropriate training is provided on the analytics solutions being delivered to ensure appropriate usage. 
  • Lead complex projects that implement critical business analytics solutions.
  • Act as a coach in the further refinement of the analytics self-service project.
  • Engage in complex corporate projects, tasks, and timelines to ensure Spencer is represented and aligned. 
  • May lead multiple project activities simultaneously where prioritization skills are critical. 
  • Engaged in the team’s Lean Business Process objectives to provide continuous improvement.
  • Calculate and track return on investment for implemented projects, as well as for future projects to enable prioritization.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, or similar technical degree.
  • 5+ years of analytics or related experience  
  • 3+ years of experience with advanced analytic techniques
  • Experience with big data programming languages and ETL technologies (i.e. Python, SQL, AWS Athena, Alteryx, Tableau Prep etc.).
  • Experience with PowerQuery and PowerBI.
  • Experience managing data analytics implementation and reporting projects. 
  • Experience implementing highly technical solutions in a manner accessible to less technical end users.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Analytical with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; process-driven.
  • Experience with Agile and Lean methodologies.
  • Experience with operating cloud data warehouses or data lake (e.g., Snowflake, AWS).
  • Experience with Supply Chain (Purchasing, Planning, Warehousing, Logistics).
  • Organized with effective project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a virtual setting. 
  • The job may require 5-10% travel to visit BSC manufacturing sites, conferences, and flexible schedule to accommodate multiple time zones. 
  • Experience with data science and predictive analytics.
