Sr Electrical Engineer


About the role:

The Sr Electrical Engineer will develop new manufacturing/test equipment and software used in the development and production of medical devices.  You will work independently or as a member of a team to direct, develop concepts, and executes specifications, designs, plans and builds of complex manufacturing and test equipment.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leads or participates on project teams to develop clear specifications, evaluates feasibility of concepts, and provides formal estimates for electrical/software designs
  • Leads project teams that include Designers, Engineers and Technicians in the design, assembly, and debugging of equipment.
  • This position will be responsible for controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and start-up assistance. Must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming.
  • Development of automation solutions from concept through feasibility, user requirement specification, vendor selection and procurement.
  • Installation and commissioning of the relevant electrical/mechanical aspects of projects, including the delivery of working servo drives processes, networking applications, PLC applications, vision systems and SCADA systems.
  • Manage the relevant electrical and control aspects of specific projects and ensure that the project is handed over on time and to specification.
  • Integration of new equipment to existing Manufacturing Execution System.
  • Provide electrical and control support to maintenance engineering team.
  • Development of SOP's and WI's to support automated systems eg. backup/disaster recovery/software installation instructions.
  • Responsible for Design and Configuration Management of automated systems software on site- change control, backup, storage labelling etc.


What we’re looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of PLC programming and machine control design experience.
  • Knowledge of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Toshiba
  • Experience of HMI or SCADA programming and configuration of any of the following software packages Wonderware, Rockwell, GE Cimplicity, Iconics, Siemens.
  • Panel design and layout, bill of materials, and wiring schematic capabilities are expected with this position.
  • The candidate must have experience reading and red-lining PI&D drawings.
  • Project management skills would be a distinct advantage
