About the role:

The Project Manager I, IT plays a vital role within Boston Scientific, serving as the main point of contact for internal questions regarding the products and services provided by our externally contracted IT vendors.  The manager owns the responsibilities of researching, evaluating, and managing supplier relationships including the processing of financial transactions, responding to vendor inquiries, recommending solutions to issues, and leading vendor evaluations.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as a strategic, forward-looking member of the IT organization
  • Manage information technology supplier relationships
  • Research and evaluate new potential supplier relationships, including evaluating supplier reputation, resources, and expertise
  • Read and review information technology contracts before sending to Legal and executives for review
  • Aggressively pursue and negotiate the best value for information technology purchases
  • Purchase information technology assets and consumables
  • Shepherd the process for major IT purchases from concept to fruition
  • Ensure vendor compliance with contracted service level agreements
  • Review, organize, and manage all IT invoices, including submission to Accounts Payable
  • Ensure timely renewal of all IT related contracts
  • Organize and lead RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in information technology or purchasing
  • Experience partnering and interacting with globally dispersed vendors and teams
  • Experience reading and interpreting contracts

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with software licensing, hardware procurement, and outsourcing agreements
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Works effectively with peers, management, operations groups, and outside organizations
  • Detail-oriented, positive attitude, and very strong communication skills
