Senior Manager, Medical Affairs, Hong Kong & Taiwan

Purpose Statement:

We are building a best-in-class APAC Medical Affairs team to drive clinical, medical, and scientific excellence across the region. By combining regional expertise with local insights, our team will scale rapidly, influence strategic decisions, and ensure that Boston Scientific continues to deliver meaningful innovation to patients across APAC. 
Reporting to the CMO of APAC, the key responsibilities of the Senior Manager Scientific Affairs, APAC include designing and executing clinical evidence planning, scientific dissemination, stakeholder engagement, and publication strategy.
 
 

The Senior Manager Medical Affairs supports the strategic planning and operational execution of clinical and scientific initiatives across Hong Kong and Taiwan. This role serves as a key liaison between internal stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, Regulatory, Clinical) and external thought leaders to ensure scientific integrity, regulatory alignment, and clinical excellence. This role supports the development and implementation of evidence generation plans and contributes to clinical trial execution, medical writing, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement activities across Hong Kong and Taiwan.

 

Responsibilities

 

Clinical Strategy & Scientific Engagement

  • Lead the implementation of local clinical strategies in alignment with global and regional medical priorities, adapting initiatives to meet local healthcare needs, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics across Hong Kong and Taiwan.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of scientific narratives, evidence generation activities, and medical communication plans that demonstrate product value, address unmet medical needs, and facilitate impactful stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), medical societies, and other external experts to gather clinical insights, support medical initiatives, and strengthen the organization’s scientific presence locally and within the region.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Regulatory Affairs team to support medical input in regulatory filings and agency interactions
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to provide scientific review and oversight of promotional and non-promotional materials, ensuring medical content accuracy and compliance.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to develop and validate claims, messaging, and value propositions.

 

 

Clinical Trial Support

  • Lead the development and execution of clinical trials by contributing to study design, protocol development, and sample size considerations for local, regional, and global studies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate investigator-initiated studies and real-world evidence activities in alignment with business and scientific needs
  • Participate in clinical study team meetings, providing medical and scientific input to support discussions during study execution and post-trial activities.

 

Community of Practice Development

  • Lead best practice sharing, capability building, and process alignment across APAC Medical Affairs teams to promote operational efficiency and consistency.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the planning and delivery of regional Medical Affairs meetings, workshops, and training initiatives aimed at enhancing scientific knowledge and cross-market collaboration.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to share local insights and experiences that inform medical plans and strengthen the organization’s scientific presence in the region.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related field (advanced degree preferred: MD, PhD, PharmD).
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industry.
  • Strong understanding of clinical research, medical strategy development, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Experience in scientific exchange with KOLs and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic medical input and review scientific content for promotional use.
  • Proven collaboration with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Regulatory, Clinical, and Commercial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English and Mandarin required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the region (up to 30%)
