About the role:

Independently or as member of a team; Engineer will be responsible to develop system/sub-system specifications, support system integration and system/software verification activities. The Systems Engineer II may lead a technical team or focus on a domain specialty with the goal of providing a quality system/product that meets the user needs. Support engineering efforts to develop quality, complex medical device systems such as combination medical devices, implantable products, and/or software only products, etc., for market leading differentiation and segment growth. Responsibilities include working with cross functional teams on new product development and sustaining projects.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Participates on project teams to translate user needs into design requirements (e.g. hardware, software, mechanical, electrical, interface, etc.) consisting of system/sub-system specifications.
  • Manage system/sub-system requirements and generate requirements traceability.
  • Develop system models and simulation artifacts to understand the system behavior, system performance or technical attributes. 
  • Analyze system requirements to determine testability, completeness and consistency and support development of system tests, characterization testing and requirement-test traceability.
  • Design automated/semi-automated end to end verification tests for implantable medical devices. connected medical products/systems including mobile devices (android or iOS), cloud platforms, 
  • Develop new capabilities/tools, libraries to support test automation. 
  • Analyzes, coordinates system partitioning (i.e. hardware/software partitioning) and total system integration by using systems engineering practices.
  • Perform system ripple effect analysis for requirements and design level changes using technical standards, principles, theories, concepts.
  • Continuously improve processes and work methodologies (using agile/lean principles to eliminate waste) to help solve complex, interdisciplinary problems by interfacing with peers/cross-functional groups.
  • Contribute to software/system risk assessment activities, Use/Design FMEA’s activities.
  • Assists Regulatory with product submissions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field 
  • 2+ Years’ of experience with product development activities in a regulated environment
  • Experience in Systems Engineering, Software Development and/or Verification 
  • Experience with authoring and analyzing requirements, software product/tool design, development, integration and verification activities 
  • Experience with test automation utilizing scripting languages such as Python, PHP
  • Understand complex SW/HW systems and be able to test for the types of failure modes associated with these systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting test failures
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a team environment
  • Strong personal credibility & excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience leading product development teams in a Medical Regulated Environment
  • Understanding of hardware design and trade-offs, embedded (real-time) software tradeoffs, performance and redundancy issues
  • Extensive technical knowledge of advanced testing concepts and formal Software and Systems Verification strategies for regulated Software, preferably in the Medical Device Industry
  • Experience using configuration management, requirements management, issue tracking systems
  • Worked with BLE technology
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence key stakeholders both internal and external to the organization
