Purpose:
To create a vision and strategy for Boston Scientific Neuromodulation related to the Electrical HW and FW team; implement best practices that supports our culture, mission and objectives; and promote the professional and personal growth of the organization’s team members. This function combines all aspects of electrical design, development and compliance/sustaining efforts for innovative Class III medical devices to be used worldwide, including hardware and firmware for external and implantable devices, RF design, MRI compatibility, and charging and powering of these devices. The person in this role will also manage, guide, audit and coordinate the work of the highly skilled electrical engineering, firmware and product development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote an innovative and engaged team culture and an open idea-driven product development environment.
- Set strategic direction and develop a comprehensive functional excellence plan for the Electrical Hardware and Firmware organization. Provide inputs to the business for the prioritization of products, technologies and developing new capabilities.
- Develop new products and solutions consistent with the committed timelines and budgets, to maximize the competitiveness and responsiveness of our products, consistent with the business strategy. Actively participate in helping to make decisions that affect all aspects of the business.
- Develop new processes, capabilities, technologies and knowledge that can expand the portfolio offering beyond what is possible today.
- Ensure high degree of interaction with other global departments such as operations, QA, regulatory, applied research, ASIC design, ATE, Systems Engineering and marketing
- Be a champion for good communication within the R&D department.
- Collaboratively determines short and long term product strategies and technologies, aligning the franchise leadership towards a future vision.
- Develop a highly skilled technical team; attract and hire the talent needed.
- Lead development and documentation of analog and digital electronic circuits and firmware used in external and implanted systems.
- Lead development and execution of design control protocols and verification procedures.
- Support compliance and post-market activities.
- Ensure the Quality Systems are understood, implemented and maintained within the department
- Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams with good negotiating skills to direct multi-disciplinary teams toward solutions
- Coach, mentor and develop the talent in pursuit of sustained industry-leading solutions
- Participate & present department activities, product quality, product reliability, product performance, manufacturing activities, dept projects, etc. at general company meetings & to the company management staff.
- Advocate and be an example of the culture of the organization.
- Mentors and develops team members to promote their professional growth.

Management Requirements:
- Leads a group or team of employees in developing and achieving organizational goals. Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
- Fosters a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- Directs and controls the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).
- 9+ years related work experience with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Computer Science).
- 7+ years related work experience with a master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Computer Science).
*** This is a "hybrid" role located in Valencia, CA and will require 3 days per week in the office***
The anticipated annualized base pay range this full-time position working at this location will be from $149,300 to $283,700 plus variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements) and the value of core and optional employee benefits being offered at Boston Scientific (BSC), which can be reviewed at www.bscbenefitsconnect.com. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. BSC considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, and other relevant business or organizational needs. Actual compensation may be otherwise adjusted if the position is filled outside of the intended geographic location.
