System Engineer Fellow

 

About This Role:

Works independently and may lead specialty groups and teams by forming a structured development process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. The Systems Engineer, Fellow, may lead a technical team, or focus in a domain specialty with the goal of providing a quality system/product that meets the user needs. Mentor team members in producing quality Electronic Medical Equipment, combination medical devices and implantables for market leading differentiation and segment growth.  Work to incorporate/embed principles and methodologies from the Systems Engineering Competency Framework published by INCOSE (International Council of Systems Engineering).

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads teams in the design, definition and implementation of system requirements, system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters by using current systems engineering methods and technologies. May include simulations, mathematical analysis and/or system interaction analysis.
  • Ensure effective development and support of hardware and software systems and associated interfaces.
  • Provide technical expertise in the development of hardware and software systems and associated interfaces
  • Drives complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved systems and techniques for development of electronic medical equipment.
  • Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined technologies, systems, modules, interfaces and processes to sustain BSC’s competitive advantage.
  • Leads project teams to evaluate feasibility of concepts, and reviews formal estimates of complex designs.
  • Coordinates and manages design teams in the completion of project documents, designs, estimates, and costs.
  • Complete project deliverables and monitor schedule and scope changes to assure team can meet delivery requirements.
  • Influences and defines functional/departmental/divisional/corporate procedures through involvement with cross-functional engineering initiatives.
  • Provides leadership role on championing functional best practices

 What we are looking for:

Requirements Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering or related field
  • At least 10 years of experience with product development activities in a regulated environment.
  • Expertise with requirements authoring, requirements analysis, software product/tool design, development and verification;
  • Ability to lead teams through a structured approach to solving complex technical problems.
  • Strong knowledge of Design Controls & Risk Management practices
  • Strong personal credibility & excellent communication skills

 Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 10 years’ experience leading and advising product development teams in a Medical Regulated Environment.
  • At least 10 years’ experience as a Systems Design leader and influencer in R&D. Should have experience building and modifying System Architectures, Systems Requirements, Systems Design for implantable medical devices and connected platform eco-systems.
  • Experience with connected Digital Systems for Remote Patient monitoring and programming
  • Knowledgeable in Human Factors and Usability Engineering processes as part of regulated product development.
