About the role:

We are seeking a Public Relations & Communications Manager to work closely with business leaders and cross-functional partners within the company’s Neuromodulation division to achieve strategic communications goals and drive awareness about its therapies for chronic pain and neurological diseases.

 

This individual will report to and work closely with the Director and Communications Business Partner, Neuromodulation to create and execute product and disease state public relations & communication plans, promote business milestones and enhance the company’s reputation.

 

Location:  We are seeking candidates who are located in California, with the option to work out of one of three Boston Scientific locations in the state in a hybrid (mix of remote and in person) capacity as needed, with flexibility.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage proactive public relations programming and media outreach in support of product regulatory, commercial and clinical milestones, pipeline innovations and business priorities.
  • Develop and lead public relations components of integrated marketing communication plans, advocating for creative, measurable ways to reach key audiences.
  • Advise business partners on communications surrounding issues management and unexpected clinical, commercial or regulatory outcomes.
  • Partner with regional communications leads in EMEA, APAC and LATAM to drive strategic alignment and execution on key product communications initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing council and maintain regular interactions with business partners in marketing, investor relations, clinical, regulatory, legal, health economics and market access functions.
  • Serve as point of contact for public relations agency to ensure the execution of high-quality communications within budget parameters.
  • Identify and elevate divisional content and patient stories to corporate channels that serve mutually beneficial business unit and company goals.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications teammates to share best practices to enable cohesiveness across regional, divisional and functional communications. 
  • Ensure a consistent and coherent voice in all communications that aligns with Boston Scientific corporate positioning and messaging.

 

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of product PR and patient education PR experience within a corporate or agency environment. Health care experience – particularly within the life sciences industry – is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates broad experience developing and executing strategic communications plans and correlating metrics while managing competing priorities.
  • Brings strong external communications experience – including media relations capabilities, FAQ and key message development, product milestone announcements and PR programming initiatives.
  • Performs as a self-motivated, solutions-oriented communications professional who will recommend innovative communications approaches and take initiative in a fluid and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates effective writing style, high-impact messaging and in-depth understanding of targeted communications amongst varying audiences.  
  • Possesses the ability to articulate complex information in simple and relatable terms.
  • Able to manage multiple layers of reviews and approvals required in a highly regulated industry, including working closely with legal, clinical and regulatory reviewers.
  • Exhibits highly organized, detail-oriented work style with outstanding follow-through skills.
  • Adept at working in a team environment while also displaying independence, initiative and enterprise; ability to maintain high productivity while balancing tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrates business acumen and fluency in topical health care news and industry trends, as well as a deep understanding of public perception and issues as they pertain to the medical device industry.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed in support of medical congresses, internal team meetings and campaign initiatives. (<10%)
