About the Role 
The Upstream Principal Product Manager will be responsible for developing and driving key marketing and business objectives for the digital Pain portfolio.   

Key activities for the Principal Product Manager include contributing to the strategic direction for the global businesses, meet with customers to assess and address unmet needs, leverage portfolio management skills to drive prioritization and shape the next-generation digital pipelines, manage digital product life cycles, and work cross-functionally to define and execute digital portfolio strategies with global marketing partners, R&D, operations, clinical, med affairs, therapy development, program management, reimbursement and sales.  

 

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and execute global multi-year, integrated strategic and annual operating plans for the Digital Pain portfolio, ensuring alignment with franchise and business objectives 
  • Experience with digital/software product development for medical device or consumer products
  • Experience leading product launches
  • Lead the team through global expansions, sustaining digital product portfolio management (device and software compatibility, software/coding maintenance, long-term support of older generation products) and product life-cycle management (global sunsetting of product lines)
  • Drive portfolio prioritization discussions and alignments based on thorough analytics, market assessments and voice of customer inputs 
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses for new investment opportunities 
  • Interface with key opinion leaders and HCP customers, patient customers and sales/economic buyer customers to identify areas of focus and prioritization; facilitate pipeline discussions 
  • Drive and facilitate advisory board planning and execution to gather insights for technology development and investments 
  • Effectively lead team of marketing product managers to achieve excellent performance in upstream marketing activities and product management and supporting commercial launches
  • Establish in-depth knowledge of the digital environments supporting our Pain portflio; provide insights in the formulation of the Global 5-year Strategic Plan, Global Annual Operating Plan (AOP), market models and revenue forecasting.  
  • Identify and communicate competitive threats and opportunities for the franchise and lead competitive action / response plans.   
  • Work with colleagues in key functional areas, including R&D, sales, health economics, reimbursement, supply chain, clinical, med affairs, and regulatory to drive business objectives. 
  • Spend time in the field to gain market and clinical insights, and build relationships with key physicians to drive education, market adoption and innovation of BSC products. 

 

What we’re looking for: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Engineering, Science, Healthcare/Biomedical).
  • Advanced degree (Masters/MBA) preferred. 
  • 3+ years Digital product pipeline development and strategy experience (within the medtech space preferred)
  • 5+ years of medical device marketing experience of increasing responsibility, upstream experience preferred
  • Prior strategic planning and product development and launch experience preferred.  
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, financial modeling, and strategic thinking skills. 
  • KOL engagement and experience managing multiple high-profile physician collaborators.  
  • An individual that is highly motivated with an action-oriented mindset. 
  • Exceptionally strong collaboration skills coupled with a “team-first” leadership philosophy. 
  • Experience leading, developing and coaching a team. 
  • Track record of success leading cross-functionally and with global partners to develop plans and strategies to maximize future market adoption potential. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and giving presentations to internal and external customers including sales teams, physicians, and executives. 
  • Travel – approximately 20% .
