About the role:
- Perform the role as a Project Manager in the development and implementation process of the company's products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of a new product portfolio that supports leads, implantable devices, electrical hardware, Software Applicationis, capital equipment and accessories.
- Lead projects (Software, Hardware Design, Firmware, Release Updates, Manufacturing VIPs, Certification Renewals, remediation, business process improvement, etc.) through planning, execution and implementation within the New Products Development umbrella.
- Lead all activities associated within the Product Life Cycle Process (PLCP) which includes annual planning, and review of proposed Design projects, monthly status updates and communication of status to the organization.
- Lead End-of Life activities for identified product as required.
- Work with broad cross-section of personnel at multiple levels. Depending on project, typical team members may include: Mechanical, Electrical, Software and Packaging Design; Regulatory; Supplier Development; Manufacturing; Design Assurance; Technical Communications; Marketing; Sales; and Supply Chain/Distribution personnel.
- Ability to travel to oversee and drive business goals, if applicable (10-20%)
Your responsibilities include:
- Project Management: Develops and implements project plan, including cost, schedule, risk and performance for projects/programs; Builds team ownership and commitment to project plans; Leads the team in appropriate decision making through strong judgment and the ability to analyze options and implications. Able to consistently drive the team to completion. Actively uses project schedules and other tools to manage scenario analysis in order to provide the teams options and provide visibility to risks ahead of time to enable in process management with the internal and external stakeholders.
- Communications and Reviews: Responsible for team and cross-functional level communications; Will act as liaison between the team and the business; Participates in project design and phase reviews; defines and tracks key business unit and project metrics; Responsible for elevating critical business risks on projects to the business and/or functional managers. Ability to communicate fluently and concisely to senior leaders; Can translate complex engineering into easy to understand communication (written and verbal).
- Relationship/People Management: Develops and maintains strong relationships with functional heads to drive success of Core Team members and overall Core Team contributions; Influences and drives cross-functional collaboration.
- Product/Technology Management: Develops understanding of the neuromodulation business and technology to help drive success in the change management activities throughout the PLCP process; Identifies, communicates, and manages project risk. Overcomes obstacles and drives collaboration to meet goals.
- Process Management: PDP (product development process) system knowledge through delivery of project deliverables; Knowledge of quality system use for the creation and continued compliance of products; Actively reviews policy and practice improvements to drive functional excellence; Influences cross-functional systems effectiveness; Financial management – budget, forecast, and strategic plan input and preparation.
Management Requirements
- Lead a matrixed core team in the achievement of organizational goals.
- Lead teams that are offsite or contractor based with internal cross-functional team members to meet key business goals.
What we’re looking for:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus 7-9 years of related work experience (B.S. CSC, CSCE, EE)
- Experience in managing significant, cross functional projects and/or initiatives
- Experience driving cross functional projects that range from new products, first in human, technology development, line extensions, global releases, inch-ups, design and process changes, standards remediation’s, VIPs, and EOL
- Has managed projects that are new products, mfg transfers or sustaining projects end to end
- Has managed projects that are Software centric (new SW feature development, new application development, OS updates, systems verification, digital application integration, SW co-development)
- Ability to develop MS project schedules for resource loading, and budgeting and critical path scenarios.
- Working knowledge of software and digital application development practices and standards
- Working knowledge of code development with Agile methodology within medical device industry, commercial automotive or military
- Ability to convert the engineering scope into a business plan that is achievable for the business; drives the team to the goal
Preferred Qualifications
- MS Degree, Engineering, MBA
- Qualified candidate should have 10+ years of professional experience with at least 5 years of relevant project management experience
- PMP Certification, SCRUM Certification
- Knowledge of DHF, DMR and Engineering Change process for Software systems
- Working knowledge of Medical device development using CFR 820.30, 13485 or 62304
- Working knowledge on leading effective teams to meet critical business goals
- Strong organization, execution and communication skills will be required, as well as a demonstrated ability to lead and work together with a cross functional team.
- Candidate must be comfortable in front of all levels of the organization as well as our external customers.
- Candidate that has practical experience owning a family of products
- Candidate can handle managing an array of projects (2-7 projects at a time)
