The Corporate Communications Specialist will develop innovative and impactful corporate communications campaigns to further strengthen Boston Scientific’s reputation as a leading healthcare company. This person will collaborate closely with internal partners in marketing, market access and global corporate communications, as well as manage PR agencies to deliver real business results and elevate the profile of the company in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).  This role reports to the EMEA Corporate Communications Manager and is based at one of our main European offices.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop, plan, and drive execution of media relations, social media and reputation management plans to support regional business objectives with the media, public, industry, and employees that is aligned with global communications strategy.
  • With a deep knowledge of the corporate story, ensure consistency of brand and message across channels and spokespeople.  Source, develop and publish compelling stories about BSC, our values and our people.
  • Partner closely with colleagues to understand their business goals and advise on when and how media and social media relations should be considered.
  • Manage schedule of EMEA PR activities and organise work of pan-EMEA PR agency & PR freelance resources.
  • Proactively manage issues that arise, preparing and supporting effective spokespeople and co-ordinating our response.
  • Maintain best in class media channels (eg online newsroom) and PR toolkits.
  • Evaluate impact of communications activities and proactively uses insights to improve future campaigns / strengthen internal partnerships.
  • Develop relationships with media, advocacy groups and associated organisations to ensure a positive environment of support for BSC's goals.
  • Act as regional expert on media, social media policies and processes, promoting best practice in all communications activities, and ensuring all materials follow appropriate approval process.
  • As senior member of the corporate communications team, may be requested to coach internal partners and junior team members, eg intern as needs arise.

 

What we are looking for:

 

  • Degree in communications or related discipline
  • Fluency in English and French essential, other European languages highly desirable
  • Broad experience of managing complex PR campaigns, ideally pan-European/regional
  • Experience of healthcare industry preferred either agency or corporate setting (eg MedTech, pharma, hospital, PR agency specialising in health)
  • Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated success at working under deadlines with excellent follow-through skills
  • Located at one of our hub offices (Ratingen, Germany; Paris, France; Hemel Hempstead, UK)
  • 20-30% travel is anticipated with this role, mainly within European region to major congresses and Boston Scientific offices.
