IT Architect - EMEA


Boston Scientific Information Technology is looking for a Solution Architect to support and deliver strategic initiatives supporting the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. This individual should be highly motivated with excellent analysis, execution, and communication skills.  The ideal candidate will have a strong technical and functional profile, someone who has experience across a large portfolio of applications assessing and recommending solutions/strategies based on business need.  In this position, team work and networking with EMEA business partners and cross-functional IT team members are necessary skills.  The individual should enjoy working in a fast pace, high visibility and impact environment.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a liaison between business partner end-users, technical analysts, information technology analysts and consultants in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of IT systems to ensure optimal operational performance
  • Leads or supports roll-out and implementation of new business applications and functionality across the EMEA region
  • Translates business goals into appropriate solutions while assessing feasibility and optimization of the solution
  • Participates in the development of cost/benefit analysis
  • Leads and facilitates design workshops (Blueprint), assessments, planning sessions i.e. demonstrate leadership experience in project management.
  • Makes recommendations on implementation of applications that meet the business capability requirements by assessing both existing and new solutions
  • Conducts work effort estimation and develop work plans
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex solutions and value to all key stakeholders
  • Demonstrates cross functional leadership i.e. ability to look at the end to end process and understand how it fits together
  • Guide and mentor other Business Analysts on the team 
  • Adheres to project plans, tasks, and deliverables; identifies dependencies and resource requirements
  • Appropriately communicates project status, escalates issues, and manages timelines and action items
  • May lead or assist in testing and implementation of business applications
  • Identifies training needs of end users; develops and provides the necessary training to meet those needs.
  • Creates and provides quality training material for user assistance and system usage
  • Works closely with the development team (internal and external) to assure a timely solution is delivered according to the specifications and implementation needs of the business
  • Develops proof of concepts to demonstrate proposed technical solutions
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with a diverse group of business, functional and technical teams
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage resources in order to deliver final solution to customer


  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years as a business process and system analysis experience
  • SAP and experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Involvement in a minimum of 3-4 end-to-end project implementations 
  • Must have experience collecting and documenting business capability needs and recommending solution in a strategic plan
  • Proven leadership in managing and partnering with external vendors and business partners on projects, including working with off-shore and geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong team building skills, with ability to build quick and effective work rapport with distributed team members.
  • Must be self-motivated in learning new concepts and willing to share knowledge and skills with other team members.
  • Outspoken and passionate about delivering well designed solutions that exceed business objectives and drive business success.
  • Must have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex solutions and ideas
  • Well organized and capable of juggling numerous priorities 
  • Highly advanced analytical and reasoning skills
  • Must be comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced environment and maintain sensitivity to personnel and corporate concerns
  • Medical device, life sciences industry background preferred
  • Experience in regulated environment
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies
  • Experienced in trouble shooting system & data issues
  • Proven experience in translating data into actionable business insight
  • Project management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 25% travel required within EMEA
