In 2012 the Boston Scientific European Proctor Bureau (EPB) was created to support physicians’ proctoring on BSC advanced technology devices in Interventional Cardiology.


Proctoring is defined as one-to-one interaction between an expert clinician (the “proctor”) and a clinician performing the procedure. The proctor provides instruction, guidance, and training to ensure safe and effective use of the Boston Scientific devices within the clinical procedure. Sessions are typically performed face-to-face, having the proctor onsite with the clinician in the operating room. As new technologies are being made available, there is a shift to digital and more proctoring sessions are now conducted remotely.


In 2022 we will expand the scope of the European Proctor Bureau to progressively centralize cross- divisional proctoring activities (face-to-face and remote), with the objective to:

  • guarantee a high-quality support to physicians, considering the increase of proctoring sessions across Divisions and the shift towards remote
  • enhance the flexibility of cross divisional support
  • and finally improve customers ‘experience


The core objective of the EMEA Proctor Bureau Lead is to manage and coordinate the EPB activities in collaboration with Divisional Medical education teams, and in compliance with EMEA and local rules and regulations.


This is an exciting opportunity if you have proven experience in building and organizing cross-Divisional teams strategy, coordinating implementation of services & resources and driving process enhancements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Build and develop the EMEA Proctor Bureau (EPB) cross-Divisional competencies and coordinate implementation of services & resources
    • Supervise a team of EPB Coordinators
    • Ensure the smooth running of the Proctor Bureau team on a day-to-day basis, and ensure high level communication and interaction with the proctors.
    • In collaboration with the Remote Support COE team, Divisions, and vendors, support effective deployment of different technologies for remote proctoring
    • Resolve any specific problems and tailor proctor programs as necessary
    • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments, and best practices
    • Identify and assess current and future proctoring needs
    • Identify and assess development/evolution of the EPB team


  • Drive EMEA Proctor Bureau processes enhancement
    • Work closely with Training Directors to ensure proper proctor selection, training of proctors and proctor interaction
    • Manage the EMEA Proctor Bureau budget
    • Ensure processes (SOP) are well established and followed by the EPB team
    • In collaboration with Divisional Medical Education teams, establish clear process for HCP certification and ensure up to date tracking.
    • Look for ways to optimize travel costs for proctors while maintaining high level of services


  • Develop, implement, and regularly report consistent KPIs for the Proctor Bureau


  • Legal and compliance
    • Ensure contracts and paperwork are properly set for the proctors.
    • Ensure processes/documentations for remote proctoring set up are in place with hospitals
    • Ensure BSC compliance process are understood and implemented
    • Interact with Legal and Compliance to ensure good collaboration

Main requirements


  • Bachelor's degree plus 7-9 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in Medical Device Industry with previous experience in Medical Education programs and familiarity with Training methods is plus
  • 2-5 years’ experience in managing a team
  • Fluent in English. Additional European Language is plus
  • Experience in working in an International environment
  • Knowledge of office procedures and billing
  • Good MS office and PC skills.
