About the role:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at least five days per week.

As an R&D Engineering Systems Co-op, you will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team providing technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, software and catheter engineering. You will collaborate with partners in marketing, regulatory and quality to support projects from concept through commercialization, as well as sustainment of currently released mapping systems. This role offers hands-on experience contributing to system requirements, risk analysis and verification activities while supporting cross-functional deliverables.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Help define and analyze system requirements, clinical workflows, and input/output processes using current systems engineering methods and technologies.
- Solve system problems by analyzing situations and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
- Document system architecture and design control elements through technical documents, reports and memos.
- Collaborate in translating customer needs into technical requirements, partnering with field, marketing, service and other cross-functional teams.
- Conduct evaluations of verification and validation activities.
- Assist with industry standards testing for safety and EMC in accordance with IEC 60601-1.
- Support risk analysis activities for assigned projects.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver project objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate-level degree in biomedical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or electrical engineering.
- Must graduate between Spring 2027 and Spring 2028.
- Proficiency in programming using MATLAB.
- Strong understanding of hardware/software systems.
- Must have experience with documentation and report writing.
- Must be able to commit to one of the following full co-op program periods: July 13th – December 18th
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the Waltham, Massachusetts, Boston Scientific location; transportation will not be provided by the company
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of system-level programming in C, Linux, and Python.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills
