Job Title: Senior Lead Physicist

 

 

The Lead Physicist works in close collaboration with the Physics team and with the different technical disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Algorithm), to develop laser optical systems and to support ongoing activities as part of Product Life Cycle.

The Lead Physicist is a responsible for leading a small Physics team (deliverables, follow-up and alignment with interfacing groups), while serving as the Tech lead, including hands on activities.

 

Main Duties:

  • Lead & Support the feasibility, design, implementation, integration, qualification and continuous engineering of Optical, Electro Optical and Laser based systems including dedicated optical fibers.
  • Take an active role in the development process, representing physics team perspective: concept and feasibility studies, specifications definition, design reviews, and test reviews.
  • Take the role of technical authority for the physics team’s activities. Establish strong interfaces with surrounding HW/SW and system teams to ensure aligned delivery of combined opto-mechanical and electro-optical modules.
  • Conducting lab tests for feasibility studies, root cause analysis, and design qualifications.
  • Own the team’s deliverables documentation required to support transfer to production and service processes (operational descriptions and diagrams, alignment and test procedures, troubleshooting guides).
  • Evaluate and extend new concepts as well as provide innovation, which can be transitioned into products. Conduct research-based studies related to light-tissue interaction and to lasing properties & performance and future capabilities.
  • Concept and feasibility tests: theory development and simulations, design of experiments; run hands-on experiments; perform data analysis; algorithm development; present recommendation to the management.
  • Use simulation tools to optimize lasing performance.
  • Develop and improve quantitative measurements and experiment methodologies.
  • Operate in a multi-tasking environment, leading in parallel various research, design, and engineering activities.
  • Get to know trends and new technologies and clinical applications in the medical industry and academy.
  • Mentor, support and grow team members.

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (or MSc with research experience) in Physics, Biophysics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Both analytical & experimental proficiency in physics/engineering.
  • At least 5 years of practical hands-on experience with complex optical systems for laser experiments and applications
  • System view and multidisciplinary knowledge
  • Excellent team player, yet capable of independent and comprehensive work
  • Good communication skills in Hebrew and English, both written and spoken
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python, Algorithm and programing capabilities.
  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented and able to multi-task, high motivation to invest and grow.
  • Specific knowledge in laser diodes and their implementation – an advantage
  • Specific knowledge is laser fibers for medical or other industries – an advantage
  • Knowledge of optical design software (Zemax) – an advantage
  • Knowledge in solid state lasers (bulk and/or fiber) – an advantage
  • Knowledge in laser-tissue interaction – an advantage
