The Physicist works as part of the Physics team and in close collaboration with different technical disciplines (Elec, Mech, SW, Algo), to develop laser optical systems and to support ongoing activities as part of Product Life Cycle.
Main Duties:
- Initiate & Support the feasibility, design, implementation, integration, qualification and continuous engineering of Optical, Electro Optical and Laser based systems including dedicated optical fibers.
- Take an active role in the development process, representing physics team perspective: concept and feasibility studies, specifications definition, design reviews, and test reviews.
- Root cause analysis of in-service problems (parts obsolescence, reliability degradation, field issues, compliance issues), development of required design changes (ECOs) to resolve those issues.
- Design improvements to improve product field performance or to improve product gross margin. Receive field and production feedback and drive ongoing product improvements, identify opportunities for performance and capability enhancement.
- Conducting lab tests for feasibility studies, root cause analysis, and design qualifications.
- Own the team’s deliverables documentation required to support transfer to production and service processes (operational descriptions and diagrams, alignment, and test procedures, troubleshooting guides).
- Concept and feasibility tests: design of experiments; run hands-on experiments; perform data analysis; present recommendation to the management.
- Use simulation tools to optimize lasing performance.
- Develop and improve quantitative measurements and experiment methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D or MSc in Physics, Biophysics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Both analytical & experimental proficiency in physics/engineering.
- 3-5 years of practical hands-on experience with complex optical systems for laser experiments and applications
- System view and multidisciplinary knowledge
- Excellent team player, yet capable of independent and comprehensive work
- Good communication skills in Hebrew and English, both written and spoken
- Self-starter, energizing, results oriented and able to multi-task, high motivation to invest and grow.
- Knowledge in solid state lasers – an advantage
- Specific knowledge is laser fibers for medical or other industries – an advantage.
- Knowledge of optical design software (Zemax) – an advantage
- Knowledge in laser-tissue interaction – an advantage
