About the Role

The Senior Service Development Engineer provides technical service leadership for capital equipment products across new product introduction and the product lifecycle. As the service subject matter expert and core-team representative, this role partners with Product Development, Service Quality, Manufacturing, Marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure products are designed for serviceability, reliability, supportability, and effective lifecycle management. The position defines service requirements, establishes scalable service infrastructure, leads complex technical escalations, and drives service readiness for new and updated products. Success requires strong technical judgment, project leadership, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion the Boston Scientific Quality Policy and maintain compliance with applicable quality and training requirements.
  • Represent Service Engineering on project core teams for assigned products and programs, providing service requirements and serviceability input throughout product development.
  • Partner with design engineers and cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve product and service issues and drive design-for-service, maintainability, and repairability.
  • Develop and implement service plans, requirements, processes, documentation, tools, training, technical support capabilities, and other infrastructure required for global service readiness.
  • Lead escalation, investigation, and resolution of complex or unique field service issues.
  • Own product NCEP activities and support CAPA by providing service and product expertise, contributing to root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness activities.
  • Assess product changes throughout the lifecycle to ensure continued service readiness and supportability.
  • Monitor product reliability and service performance, identify trends and emerging risks, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop and implement end-of-life service strategies and programs for capital equipment.
  • Provide project management leadership for service-related initiatives, balancing concurrent projects, changing priorities, quality requirements, timelines, and business objectives.

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience as  Service Development Engineer from Medical Devices Indutsry - highly preffered or other regulatory industries (defense/aviation/automotive)
  • Technical service experience supporting capital equipment, or capital equipment engineering and/or R&D experience.
  • Project management experience with demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional activities and deliver against project requirements.
  • Demonstrated success driving process improvements and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10-20%.
  • Field engineering or field service experience.
  • Formal training or certification in Six Sigma, Lean, and/or Project Management.
  • Technical service experience supporting capital equipment in the medical device industry.
