We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer on a permanent basis to join our team.

Job Purpose:

 

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Active Implantable R&D team. In this role, you will lead and contribute to the design, development, and verification of innovative implantable medical devices from early concept through product launch and lifecycle management. The role involves close collaboration with systems, mechanical, firmware, quality, and regulatory teams to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant implantable products.

You will be responsible for electrical architecture definition, schematic design, component selection, risk management, and supporting verification and validation activities in a highly regulated environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

· Lead the design and development of electrical sub-systems for active implantable urology devices, including power management, sensing, stimulation, and protection circuits.

· Translate system and user requirements into robust electrical design requirements and detailed schematics.

· Perform component selection, derating analysis, and BOM optimization suitable for implantable reliability and longevity.

· Support integration and bring-up of electrical hardware with embedded software and system-level elements.

· Identify technical risks, support electrical FMEA activities, and implement risk mitigation strategies.

· Support electrical verification activities, characterization studies, and test method development.

· Generate and maintain electrical design documentation in compliance with the Quality Management System.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, systems, firmware, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams.

 

Education & Experience:

 

· Hons bachelors degree or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering.

· 10+ years of experience in electronic product development, preferably in a regulated medical or implantable device environment.

· Strong experience in mixed-signal circuit design, low-power electronics, and battery-powered systems.

· Experience with design controls, electrical risk management, and V&V processes.

· Proficiency in schematic capture, component libraries, and design documentation.

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

 

Preferred qualifications & experience:

· Experience designing electronics for active implantable medical devices.

· Familiarity with IEC 60601 / implantable applicable standards and ISO 14971.

· Experience supporting regulatory submissions and responding to regulatory inquiries.

· Knowledge of EMC/ESD concepts relevant to implantable systems.
