Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated Senior Buyer on a permanent basis to join our operations team.
Job Purpose:
We are looking to have a highly experienced buyer to join our purchasing team in Clonmel, you will have purchased Raw materials, using SAP S4, have experience in ERP systems such as Kinaxis Rapid Response. You will determine raw material requirements from engineering and production schedules and maintain inventory at planned levels. Plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle ie new products to EOL. Be creative with having “the right amount of material available” considering cost and service as priorities. Maintain vendor and sourcing relationships monitors cost, schedule and issue resolution. Confident in communicating to all levels, taking ownership of issues, self-motivated problem solver, and have experience delegating and leading others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages raw material component supply and inventory levels for product line(s), planning and purchasing for material requirements and ensuring flow of materials to the production floor.
- Understands and communicates component specifications to suppliers, including the ability to read drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and Incoming Quality Control (IQC) points.
- Maintains Data Governance of raw material in SAP S4.
- Proficient use of SAP S4, using multiple functions and creating purchase orders.
- Develop into an SME, be a go to person in the team for knowledge and experience.
- Develops and enhances relationships with strategic supplier/partners. Serves as primary contact and fosters positive and mutually beneficial relationship with suppliers.
- Coordinates early supplier involvement in product development and purchases the required raw materials to support product development and product launches.
- Supports product development goals in the components, materials and suppliers’ area.
- Manages the implementation of suppliers (including ensuring the completion of appropriate first articles and validations)
Education & Experience:
- Minimum Hons Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related discipline.
- At least 4 years’ experience in a buyer/raw material purchasing role within a highly regulated manufacturing environment (medical device/pharma).
- APICS qualification an advantage.
- SAP/ S4Hana experience essential.
- Advanced Excel skills essential.
- Data analytics and AI usage an advantage.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3days per week in the Clonmel office.
