We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis to join our team.
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical solutions for active implantable urology devices. This role focuses on implantable packaging, structural components, sealing, and interactions with anatomy, manufacturing processes, and sterilization requirements.
You will play a key role in translating clinical requirements into robust mechanical designs that meet reliability, biocompatibility, and manufacturability expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for active implantable devices.
· Support mechanical architecture and design, in collaboration with systems engineering.
· Translate requirements into detailed mechanical designs, drawings, and tolerance stacks.
· Perform mechanical analyses (stress, fatigue, environmental exposure) to ensure implantable reliability.
· Support material selection with consideration for biocompatibility, sterilization, and long-term implant performance.
· Identify and mitigate mechanical risks through DFMEA and design reviews.
· Support prototyping, verification testing, and design characterization activities.
· Collaborate with manufacturing and process development teams on DFM.
· Create and maintain mechanical design documentation per Quality System requirements.
Education & Experience:
· Hons Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
· 5+ years of experience in mechanical product development, preferably in implantable or regulated devices.
· Experience with CAD, GD&T, and mechanical analysis techniques.
· Knowledge of design controls, risk management, and verification processes.
· Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred qualifications & experience:
· Experience designing implantable housings, seals, or long-term implantable structures.
· Familiarity with biocompatibility considerations and implantable materials.
· Experience supporting regulatory submissions.
