We are seeking a Senior Test Development Engineer on a permanent basis to join our team.

 
Job Purpose:

Lead the development, optimisation, and control of functional and in-circuit test equipment during pre-production and production phases. Owns the performance of test systems, driving root cause analysis and resolution of issues that impact product quality or yield. Partners with Design, Operations, Quality, and Process Development to deliver robust and scalable test processes for new product introductions and sustaining manufacturing.
 
Key Responsibilities:

System Design and Development:
·    Lead the design and development of complex electrical test systems across hardware, software, firmware, and automation domains.
·    Provide technical leadership to cross-functional project teams, ensuring test systems meet quality, manufacturability, and scalability requirements.
·    Mentor junior engineers and review their design deliverables for completeness, compliance, and best practices.

Prototype Development and Testing:
·    Lead the build, bring-up, and iterative refinement of prototype test systems.
·    Drive in-depth root cause analysis and debugging of hardware and software issues; develop structured validation plans for critical features.
·    Collaborate with product design teams to provide design-for-test feedback during development phases.

Verification and Validation:
·    Define and own comprehensive verification and validation strategies for test platforms.
·    Ensure compliance with internal design controls, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, FDA, etc.).
·    Review and approve protocols and reports from peers and junior engineers.

Documentation and Technical Communication:
·    Own the creation and approval of system specifications, test documentation, and design records.
·    Champion high standards in technical documentation, ensuring traceability and completeness across the test lifecycle.
·    Present technical reviews to internal and external stakeholders with clarity and authority

Integration and Implementation:
·    Drive seamless integration of test systems into pre-production and production environments.
·    Lead process transfer activities, including training, SOP development, and troubleshooting guidance for sustaining teams.
·    Design systems with long-term maintainability and scalability in mind.

Continuous Improvement:
·    Identify and implement continuous improvements across test platforms, leveraging data analysis, automation, and new technologies.
·    Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve test efficiency, reduce cycle time, and increase reliability.
·    Actively evaluate emerging technologies and propose adoption strategies where appropriate.

Collaboration and Influence:
·    Influence design decisions through strong technical input and effective communication across engineering, quality, and operations functions.
·    Support program management in project planning, risk management, and timeline execution for test development deliverables.
·    Represent the ePD team in technical working groups and external audits as a subject matter expert (SME).

Education & Experience:

•    Hons Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent required; Master’s degree preferred.
•    6+ years of experience in a regulated industry in test system development, ideally with a mix of hardware and software engineering.
•    Proven track record in leading system development and successful integration of test platforms into production.
•    Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills; experienced with root cause tools such as FMEA, 8D, or DMAIC.
•    Proficient in LabVIEW, Python, or other test automation frameworks.
•    Experience with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD) and hardware development, including microcontrollers and sensor integration.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•    Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, technical reviews, and driving continuous improvement initiatives
