Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Supplier Engineer/Supplier Quality Engineer on a permanent basis to join our Cork team.

As part of the Supplier Engineering team, you will support activities related to the qualification, assessment and ongoing performance of supplier materials and components. Working closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, you will gain exposure to supplier qualification, supplier changes, material specifications, investigations and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build quality into all aspects of your work by maintaining compliance with applicable quality, regulatory and Supplier Management requirements.
• Support Supplier Engineering and Supplier Quality activities associated with new product, acquisition and sustaining projects, including supplier and material qualification, supplier change assessments and restricted material evaluations.
• Assist with routine technical activities associated with supplied materials and components, including First Article reports, component/material assessments, non-conforming event and product (NCEP) investigations and Change Requests.
• Support the investigation of supplier material quality issues identified at receiving inspection or within manufacturing. Work with Supplier Quality, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing and other cross-functional teams to help investigate issues, determine assignable/root causes and support appropriate product disposition.
• Apply structured problem-solving and basic statistical tools, with guidance from experienced engineers, to investigate supplied material issues and support data-driven decisions.
• Assist in the development, review and verification of specifications for raw materials, components and manufacturing supplies, as well as inspection procedures and appropriate test methods.
• Work with suppliers and experienced engineering colleagues to support the investigation and resolution of supplier quality, technical and supply issues, developing effective communication and supplier management skills.
• Support supplier corrective action activities by assisting with investigations, reviewing supporting data and following up on the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions, with guidance from experienced Supplier Engineering/Quality colleagues.
• Participate in supplier qualification and supplier change activities, helping to assess technical information and ensure supplied materials and components continue to meet established requirements.
• Support the application of Boston Scientific Quality System and Supplier Management requirements within the supply base and develop an understanding of applicable procedures, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in supplier troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities, including activities at supplier facilities where appropriate and under the guidance of experienced engineering staff.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply base relating to quality, service, cost and process capability, while developing knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and other problem-solving methodologies.
• Participate as a technical team member on cross-functional teams involving Supplier Engineering, Supplier Quality, Procurement, Receiving Inspection, Manufacturing, Quality and other Business Units, contributing to supplier management and project objectives.
• Support supplier-related projects and initiatives aimed at improving material quality, supplier performance, process capability and overall supply chain performance.
• Analyse technical information and data and prepare clear engineering documentation, reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and develop professional working relationships with suppliers and cross-functional partners.
• Develop knowledge of Supplier Engineering, Supplier Quality, commodity management and supplier management processes through hands-on experience, coaching and collaboration with experienced colleagues.
• Demonstrate an enthusiastic and proactive approach to learning, taking increasing responsibility as technical knowledge and experience develop, while contributing to department and site objectives.

Education & Experience:

• Hons Bachelor Degree (Level 8) in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Science or a related technical discipline is essential.
• Graduated within the past two years or currently in the final year of university.
• Relevant work experience or completion of a co-op program.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the initiative to contribute in a collaborative environment.
• Strong systems aptitude and an interest in developing technical skills.
• Enthusiastic, proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
• Interest in medical technology, manufacturing, product development or continuous improvement.
