Job Purpose:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, high performing Communications team within a global organisation in a hybrid role (3 days onsite in Galway), offering strong exposure, hands on experience and excellent opportunities to learn and develop.
The Communications Specialist is an important role within the Ireland Communications team and is primarily focused on supporting communications for the Galway site. The role also operates within a regional communications model, providing flexible support to Cork and Clonmel as required, including occasional travel.
This is a practical, sleeves rolled up role suited to someone with 2–3 years’ communications experience who enjoys being close to delivery, learning on the job and seeing their work land with large employee audiences. You will support real communications activity that reaches thousands of employees, work closely with experienced communications professionals, and gain exposure to site leadership teams and senior leaders.
You will be part of the Ireland Communications team and connected into the global Corporate Communications organisation, working with colleagues across regions and functions and gaining experience in multinational communications programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands on communications delivery
-
Support delivery of internal communications activities for the Galway site, including town halls, corridor events, engagement campaigns and employee communications.
-
Provide practical, on the ground support for site events, including logistics, set up, materials and coordination.
-
Support day to day communications operations such as managing shared mailboxes, coordinating requests and keeping activities organised and moving.
-
Get involved in the detail and delivery work that brings communications to life for employees.
Content creation and visual communications
-
Create clear, engaging and visually strong communications materials across channels such as posters, presentations, newsletters, digital screens and SharePoint.
-
Use Canva and PowerPoint to design materials, adapting global or national content for local Galway audiences.
-
Support simple video, photo and visual storytelling to showcase people, events and achievements on site.
Measurement and insights
-
Pull together communications metrics and engagement data to support reporting and presentations.
-
Help track what’s working and where communications can improve, using data and feedback.
Regional and team collaboration
-
Work closely with communications colleagues in Galway and support communications activity across Cork and Clonmel as needed.
-
Contribute to cross site and national communications projects, gaining exposure beyond a single location.
-
Support employee resource groups, DE&I and community communications activity.
Innovation and AI enabled communications
-
Learn how AI and digital tools can support communications work, from content drafting to design and analysis.
-
Bring curiosity and openness to new ways of working, with support and guidance from the wider team.
-
Help the team work smarter and more efficiently while following company guidance.
Education & Experience:
Required
-
Level 8 Honors Degree or qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
-
2–3 years’ professional experience in a communications, PR or related role, gained in a corporate, agency or comparable environment.

-
A practical, hands-on approach and a willingness to get stuck into day-to-day delivery work.
-
Well organised, reliable and comfortable juggling multiple tasks and priorities.
-
Curious mindset, with an interest in learning how AI and digital tools can support communications work.
Preferred
