We are seeking an Extrusion Technician I on a permanent basis to join us on our mission.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Tooling strip down and diagnosis for repair and improvements.
  • Communicates any concerns about work process regarding environmental impact, health or safety issues to their Manager.
  • Champions Behavioural Standards and demonstrate “Perseverance/Can do” attitude.
  • Liaise with Engineering to procure fixtures, and/or equipment.
  • Lead cost reduction Value Improvement Projects (VIP) by improving existing or new equipment, tooling, fixtures or processes.
  • Coach, develop, train and provide technical support or direction to Co-workers.
  • Preventative maintenance of tooling, including the measurement of tooling against drawing specifications.
  • Complete tool reports and ordering of spare parts.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken to a high quality and completed to all standard regulations.
  • Strong technical aptitude to understand plastics processing and the overall operating principles of extrusions.
  • Identification & completion of problem solving / process improvement activities.
     

Qualifications & Experience:

  • HETAC Level 6 Qualification 120 credits in a relevant discipline. Polymer/Materials Engineering disciplines are a distinct advantage.
  • General manufacturing processing knowledge with at least 2 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Ability to recognise areas of opportunity for improvement within existing processes in Extrusion
  • Ability to lead such continuous improvement activities through PDCA and PSPI activity
  • Troubleshooting & Self Solving capabilities.
  • Toolmaking experience desirable.
  • Polymer processing experience desirable.
  • Tooling assembling/disassemble is a distinct advantage.
  • Electrical and pneumatic experience is a distinct advantage.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes planning and prioritising activities.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S
  • Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and rework.
  • Experience of working to tight production targets.
