We are currently seeking applications from a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Manager, R&D

 

 

Job Purpose

Responsible for activities related to research and development, including technical support and process development engineering functions in product manufacturing areas, planning and implementing new processes, establishing equipment specifications, and improving manufacturing techniques. Directing and controlling research or technology development activities, monitoring programs/projects from initiation through delivery, and implementing procedures for testing and evaluating electronic medical devices. Additionally, accountable for building and maintaining capacity and capabilities for mechanical testing of single-use medical devices, design services (CAD/Solidworks, mechanical design, 3D printing, and hybrid manufacturing), managing innovation and collaboration support resources, and ensuring effective resource allocation for customers in New Product Development and Operations throughout the product life cycle.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recruiting, coaching, and/or developing organizational talent.
  • Responsible for providing direction and/or guidance to exempt specialists and/or supervisory staff who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.  May supervise non-exempt employees.

  • Monitors compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensures the mechanical test lab prepares for and remains compliant with all internal audits and external audits by notified bodies (DEKRA, FDA, BSI, etc..)
  • Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives.
  • Will be responsible for developing, monitoring and appropriately adjusting the annual budget for department(s).  This includes OPEX, CAPEX and HCT
  • May lead a group or team of employees in the achievement of organizational goals.  Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
  • Will direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations. 

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Minimum BSc or BEngr degree (NFQ 8 Level). Desirable to hold an MSc or MEngr degree (NFQ level 9)
  • Minimum of 10 years industrial experience with at least 5 years of supervisory/management experience of large teams
  • Experience in a large regulated environment required, biomedical industry preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively, manage projects, and drive innovation within a research and development setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing long-term R&D strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Proven track record of managing R&D budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and delivering projects within budget constraints.
  • Experience working collaboratively with teams across various departments such as engineering, product development, marketing, and manufacturing.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, identify solutions, and make data-driven decisions to drive R&D initiatives forward.
  • Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing a high-performing R&D team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to the industry and experience navigating regulatory processes.
