Role Overview:
The Fellow Enterprise Architect is the most senior individual contributor architecture role at Boston Scientific and a recognized global enterprise leader. While based in EMEA, this role is globally accountable for defining and advancing enterprise business, technology, data, and AI architecture strategy.
This is a federated role within the Enterprise Architecture organization, representing Global Operations, Supply Chain, and Corporate Applications, with a dotted-line relationship to the Vice President of these functions, while operating with an enterprise-wide mandate and independence as a neutral architectural authority across all business domains.
The role operates with significant autonomy, is trusted by senior executives, and is sought out to lead the company’s most complex, high-impact, and ambiguous initiatives.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Define and evolve global enterprise architecture strategy aligned with long-term business objectives and enterprise investment priorities.
- Influence senior leaders to drive cohesive, enterprise-wide architectural decisions across regions and functions.
- Lead architecture for the most complex global initiatives, translating business strategy into actionable architectures and roadmaps that deliver measurable business, risk, and operational outcomes, including enterprise AI, data, and modernization.
- Serve as the highest-level escalation point for architecture decisions, providing enterprise architecture governance and resolving cross-enterprise, data-driven, and ambiguous challenges.
- Shape global AI enablement by defining data, platform, integration, and governance architectures supporting Generative, Predictive, and Intelligent solutions.
- Mentor and develop senior architects and architecture leaders globally; advance the maturity and effectiveness of the architecture practice.
- Identify, assess, and guide adoption of emerging technologies and external best practices that create enterprise value.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 15+ years of architecture, design, and technology delivery experience.
- 5+ years in senior architecture leadership roles (Principal, Director, Chief Architect, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated enterprise leadership across multiple architecture domains (business, application, data, integration).
- Proven experience leading AI, Application, and Business architecture, including foundations for machine learning, or generative AI.
- Strong executive communication, influence, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to travel globally up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in medical device, life sciences, or other regulated industries.
- Experience supporting or transforming global supply chain, manufacturing, or operations capabilities.
- Master’s degree and/or relevant architecture or technology certifications.
- Deep knowledge of AI, business and data architecture principles, methodologies, and emerging technologies.
Preferred Location: EMEA (Galway, Warsaw, Kerkrade – Hybrid)
Work Schedule: Standard 8-hour workday, with required overlap between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM EST to align with U.S. business hours.
