About the role:
The Vice President, Program Management for Coronary Therapies is responsible to shape and execute our product portfolio investment strategy.  The Coronary Therapies portfolio budget is more than $100M and supports revenue of nearly $3B+.  Coronary Therapies is one of the largest franchises in Boston Scientific and continues to grow in revenue and portfolio.  This person owns and drives activities to support and grow the business with focus on delivering new product development projects across a broad portfolio. This role is a key resource in proactively engaging multiple functions and senior level stakeholders to make strategic portfolio and program decisions.  Additionally, this role leads the Franchise Leadership Team (FLT) driving direction and execution of the business priorities across new product development, key commercial activities, and sustaining engineering.  This role will be part of the business leadership team and will report to the General Manager of Coronary Therapies.

 

Work Mode:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our Maple Grove, MN office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver PDPs and TDPs in a reliable and high quality manner in line with the business priorities
  • Partners closely with peers in Marketing, Finance, R&D, Clinical, Quality, Operations, and Regulatory to develop and execute a product portfolio designed to continue our global leadership position 
  • Establish and lead project portfolio governance, ensuring high quality planning and delivery, identification and mitigation of risk and issues, financial stewardship
  • Chairs the Project Investment Board (PIB). Establishes and leads project portfolio governance, ensuring high quality planning and delivery, identification and mitigation of risk and issues, financial stewardship.
  • Guides the PIB in appropriate decision making through strong judgment, strategic questioning, and the ability to analyze options and implications.
  • Personally leads the program management workstream for due diligence activities on target companies with focus on product development strategies and schedules.
  • Builds internal and external stakeholder partnerships to further organizational objectives.  Communicates clearly, credibly, and decisively to senior level leadership both within the division and across the matrix.
  • Creates an environment encouraging change, innovative thinking and risk taking within scope of business responsibility to continuously improve business effectiveness, simplification and enhance organizational capabilities.
  • Chairs the Franchise Leadership Team (FLT) which is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the franchise, recommending portfolio investments, partnering with finance to drive key financial processes, and for delivering the portfolio meeting cost/schedule/performance. 
  • Partners and aligns with Finance on portfolio processes such as project business case, return on investment analyses, project portfolio performance and financial reporting, annual planning and budgeting processes, and value realization
  • Oversees and mentors the professional development of program management team members who are tasked with executing the Product Development Projects (PDP) projects 
  • Responsible for understanding the key objectives of the business.  Applies project management skills, strategic analysis, and influence to ensure strategic imperatives are met.
  • Keeps the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations, etc.).


Required Qualifications
⦁    Bachelor’s degree in basic science, engineering or health care provision
⦁    12+ years industry experience (device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology)
⦁    8+ years in program management experience
 
Preferred Qualifications
⦁    MBA and PMP certification
⦁    Demonstrated program management leadership experience within medical device product development
⦁    Experience developing large portfolio investment strategies
⦁    Strategic thinker, analytical, accountable and results driven
⦁    Comfortable operating as a transformational leader to drive change across the business processes
⦁    Demonstrated ability to establish credibility internally and externally
⦁    Demonstrated success in managing global teams, mentoring and developing team members
⦁    High sense of urgency and commitment to execution
⦁    Strong executive presence, communication and writing skills
⦁    Cross functional experience highly valued, including:

  • Commercial experience in sales or marketing
  • Direct leadership in functions supporting the product development process
  • Portfolio management or New Business Development experience

⦁    Will lead a group of director level employees in the achievement of organizational goals.  Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout their organization.
